Star Wars has had an immense impact on modern Western culture. When it came out in 1977, it created a whole subculture for science fiction fans and nerds all over.

For example, Star Wars has always been a popular theme for Western cosplay. People who attend comicon conventions often dress up as Jedi, storm troopers, etc. One of the more popular ones is Darth Vader, some people even going far as to make his character a true person in real life. In Ukraine in the recent election, Darth Vader actually ran for president of Ukraine!

Some fans have even gone as far to change their entire lifestyles because of the movie series. Some people have listed their religion as “Jedi”. Other fans, while not going this far, will hold Star Wars-stylized weddings inspired by George Lucas’s galaxy far far away.

In fact, there is even a day where fans celebrate the creation of the Star Wars series. On May 4th, Star Wars fans everywhere celebrate Star Wars Day, where they commonly wish each other, “May the Fourth be with you,” as it sounds just like the line from the movie, “May the force be with you”.
