The current Ebola crisis comes from Western Africa, but the US received some cases. At first it was a few nurses and doctors that had caught the disease while helping others in Liberia, but there was one major incident that caused everyone to be scared.

Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian born American, flew back to his home in Dallas, not telling anyone that had touched someone with the disease. For a week, he interacted with many people, and then he got extremely sick and had to go to the hospital twice. He died several weeks later.

Although none of his family got sick, the public was mad because he could have infected everyone around his home. This made many people scared that the disease could spread very quickly in the US, which made Obama address this topic in his weekly address.
